After beating Chad 3-1 on aggregate in the first round of the World Cup qualifiers, Sudan were placed in Group I alongside Morocco, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
They will visit the Atlas Lions in the first game in the upcoming international break on September 2, before hosting Guinea-Bissau five days later.
Altahir, who joined Smouha at the start of the 2020-2021 season from Sudan’s Al-Hilal, was called-up by French manager Hubert Velud.
The 24-year-old right back has made 24 appearances for the Alexandria-based side since joining them, scoring two goals and helping his side sit in fifth place on the league table, with just three games left before the end of the season.
Altahir already has 24 caps to his name for the Sudan national team with his debut coming in 2015 against Zambia in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
