Saudi side Al Nassr have denied the rumors linking them with a move for Al Ahly and Egypt national team goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy.
As of late, there have been reports in Saudi Arabia and Egypt that pointed to negotiations between Al Nassr and Mohamed El-Shennawy over a potential summer deal.
Despite the rumors spreading through multiple sources, Al Nassr president Musalli Al-Muammar stepped in to put an end to the gossip.
“We know Mohamed El-Shennawy, he is a very talented player and we definitely respect him,” Al-Muammar said.
“However, all the rumors about ongoing negotiations between us and the player are simply not true.
“If we want to ask for the player’s services, we know how to reach out to him and to his club Al Ahly.”
After finishing sixth in the Saudi Professional League last season, the Saudi giants have brought in multiple players in order to strengthen the team ranks.
The most notable newcomers included Cameroon international striker Vincent Paté Aboubakar and former Benfica star Talisca.
However, they still lack in the goalkeeper position after the departure of Brad Jones this summer, with Amin Al-Bukhari and Waleed Abdullah the only ones to replace him.
On the other hand, Mohamed El-Shennawy has been an integral part of the Al Ahly squad in recent year guiding them to back-to-back Champions League titles, four consecutive league titles, two Egypt Cups, two Super Cups, the CAF Super Cup, and the bronze medal at the Club World Cup.
