Nominated Senator, Victor Prengei is dead after being involved in an accident at Gioto along the Nakuru-Kabarak highway.
According to Marioshoni residents in Molo sub-county where the senator hails from, they have received the news with shock saying that they have lost a leader who worked tirelessly to see to it that the issues of the minority communities were well addressed.
Being the first political leader from the Ogiek community to be nominated to parliament by the Jubilee party in 2017, the locals said that his outstanding leadership skills gave them confidence and proved his commitment in the task that was ahead of him.
Area MCA, Douglas Ayabei paid his tribute to the senator saying that it was unfortunate that they had lost a dedicated leader who was at the forefront in championing for the rights of the minority communities.
In him, Ayabei said that he had lost a reliable friend, leader and mentor whom he always looked up to on various issues including leadership.
Prengei met his untimely death yesterday evening at around 9.45pm while on his way home.
His vehicle is said to have lost control and hit a perimeter wall where he sustained serious injuries and was rushed to War memorial hospital.
