Venue: Alexandria Stadium
Referee: Mohamed Adel

Al Ahly will be desperately trying to break out of the recent habit of missing goal-scoring opportunities when they take on cemented-defense Masry in the 32nd matchday of the Egyptian league at Alexandria Stadium on Friday.

With the team scoring only a total of three goals in their last three league games — which included a 1-1 draw with Ismaily, a 2-0 win over Enppi, and a goalless draw with Talae El-Geish — Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane is hopeful that his side will find their cutting-edge again at the Masry game to keep the hope of winning the league title alive.

Al Ahly was dealt a massive blow after their bid to win the Egyptian Premier League for a sixth successive season and 42 overall was halted due to a goalless draw with El-Geish on Tuesday, diminishing their chances of claiming the league title in their remaining three matches.

Al Ahly had dropped four precious points in the last three games after being held to a 1-1 draw and a goalless tie by Ismaily and Talae El-Geish respectively.

At this point, the Red Devils cannot afford anymore stumbles as they currently lie second on the Egyptian Premier League teams’ table with 69 points, four points behind title contenders Zamalek, with three games left on the season.

Egyptian Premier League title holders and African Champions League winners Ahly are in need of nothing short of a miracle to claim this season’s Egyptian Premier League title, as they have to see their arch-rivals Zamalek lose one game and draw in another in their remaining three games.

Coach Mosimane will continue missing in-form striker Mohamed Sherif — the league’s leading scorer and the team’s ideal striker — due to an injury for the third game in a row.
