Katsande’s Replacement Is 3 Time Better Than Him: Kaizer Chiefs Legend

Katsande’s Replacement Is 3 Time Better Than Him: Kaizer Chiefs Legend Makes Stunning Claim

Kaizer Chiefs legend Rudolph Seale has sensationally claimed that Willard Katsande’s replacement, Cole Alexander is three times better than the former Zimbabwe captain.

Seale was effusive in his praise of the 32-year-old South African. According to Seale, Alexander is a significant improvement on Katsande.

The tough tacking Zimbabwean midfielder left Amakhosi following a decade at the club. The 35-year-old holds the club record for the most capped foreign player after featuring in 326 matches across all competitions.

Katsande is one of the players jettisoned by Amakhosi following a disappointing season in which the Soweto club finished in 8th position in the DStv Premiership last season. Chiefs also lost the CAF Champions League final 3-0 to Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly. Kaizer Chiefs have since launched an ambitious rebuilding exercise that has seen the Naturena-based side signing at least 9 players so far.

Seale seems to have taken to Alexander, whose signing has been criticized by some Kaizer Chiefs. Some fans derided the transfer saying that Alexander is only 3 years younger than the club legend he is replacing.

Commenting on Alexander’s performance, Seale told KickOff,

“Kaizer Chiefs bought players, and you can see there has been a huge improvement from last season.”

“I want to compliment Cole Alexander. Yes, the role that he is playing is the one that Katsande played. I think he is even doing three times better than Katsande; also he’s a local boy. He reminds me of Wellington Manyathi.

The Kaizer Chiefs legend went on to say that Alexander had shown his mettle against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-final at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Sunday. Chiefs lost the match on penalty kicks, after coming back from 2 goals down to level the match at 2-2.

“He broke a couple of Sundowns transitions, and I think that’s why he got injured. He got stretched, and he was overworked.

“How can people call him ikhehla [old man]. You’d rather have an ikhehla that will give you a good season than have a youngster who’ll only blossom after three years.

“At Chiefs, we are hungry for trophies right now.”

Meanwhile, ‘Salt and Vinegar’ as Katsande was affectionately known by legions of Amakhosi fans, is continuing his career in the DStv Premiership. The midfielder signed a two-year deal with South African Premier Soccer League newcomers Sekhukhune United.
