Momen has previously coached multiple clubs in the Egyptian Premier League including Zamalek, Smouha, Petrojet, and Misr El-Makkasa.
His most recent job however was with Egypt U17 national team where he was the head of the technical staff since December of last year.
However, he decided to cut his stint short to take his first job abroad after reaching an agreement with five-time Iraqi champions Al Shorta.
The announcement came through the Iraqi club officials as they stated on TV: “We started negotiating with Momen Soliman long ago.
“He now is in Baghdad, he has signed his contract with the club, and he will be leading the team in training starting tomorrow.”
Al-Shorta finished their last Iraqi League campaign in fourth place with 72 points from 38 games and the 47-year-old head coach will be working to improve their placing this season.
