Beer Binge Turns Bloody as 51-Year-Old Man Is Stabbed To Death

A beer binge recently turned nasty after a 51-year-old Chiredzi man was stabbed five times with an Okapi knife leading to his death.

The unfortunate incident took place at a traditional beer drinking event at the homestead of a 61-year-old Margaret Nyamusiiwa.

Ephraim Haisa (51) of Village 6 Bankala under Chief Neromwe succumbed to the injuries on Thursday.

The suspect Andrew Gupani (31) of the same Village was arrested at the scene.

The incident happened at around 6pm on Wednesday and Haisa who was taken to Chiredzi District Hospital died on Thursday morning.

Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson, Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed.

The Mirror reports that some sources said Gupani was drinking beer outside a hut with a friend Andrew Vengesai when Haisa reportedly arrived.

It is alleged that they invited Haisa to join them but because of previous misunderstandings Haisa allegedly took a stick and hit Andrew on the arm with it.

Further allegations are that the suspect drew out a knife from his pocket and stabbed Haisa thrice on the chest and twice on the back.

Immediately Haisa dropped onto the ground where he bled profusely.
