PRESIDENT BARROW’s SHAMEFUL STATEMENTS/INTERVIEWS

Recent statements by President Barrow broadcast over TV Eye Africa and Fatunetwork, by a sitting President is not only disappointing but sorrowful in the New Gambia we are prevailing. To say clandestinely that from “December 4th2021, being election day, he will stop all public gatherings and instruct the Inspector General of Police not to issue or honour any permit for political gatherings in the country” is indeed sorrowful for the cessation of our hard-fought democracy. In effect, Adama Barrow is saying that he will be returning us to dictatorship, since ordering the stoppage of public gathering and interfering in police security matters even though unconstitutional for the Presidency.

The All-peoples Party (APP) is even more stupefied when President Barrow confidently refers to December 4thWeew”, ie election victory as his entitlement. What audacity has the President to claim that he will win the election. We are alarmed by his premature declaration of Election victory suggesting that foul play is inevitable as  already he suggests to have banked his tricks to give him the Weew he already proclaimed himself.

The APP deplores strongly such statements by the president. The forthcoming elections must be conducted on level playing ground and fair politics in which the Gambian population are free to elect the right leadership based on academic proficiency and competency. The past five years of stagnant national progress, corrupt government, wasteful expenditure, mounting national debtand increased poverty of affecting all Gambians cannot be allowed to continue. Come December 4th, the Gambian population will replace this government and usher in new persons of self-dedication, national pride and greater competency to run the affairs of the country. We salute allGambians not be swayed by hypocrisy and deceitful propaganda.

Thank you.
