Al Ahly drop crucial points against El-Gaish in tight title race

Al Ahly were held to a goalless draw against Tala’a El-Gaish in match day 31 of the Egyptian Premier League to make their chances of winning the title very slim.

The game had a relatively slow start until the 14th minute when Al Ahly’s Hussein El-Shahat’s long ranger went slightly over the bar.

The Red Devils’ first clear cut chance came in the 39th minute when Yasser Ibrahim lobbed Tala’a El-Geish keeper Mohamed Bassam but Eslam Gamal cleared it off the line.

Al Ahly continued their dominance in the second-half but with no true danger as they struggled to break Tala’a El-Gaish’s very organized defensive line.

Against the course of the game El-Gaish forward Ahmed Samir found himself in a one-on-one situation with Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy. However, the latter was able to make a difficult save and sent it outside the pitch.

This marked the last chance of the game as Al Ahly attempted once again to take the lead but without success.

Al Ahly now sit four points behind league leaders Zamalek with just three games to go before the end of the season. They will hope their opponents drop points in their upcoming games in order to have a chance at competing.
